It took a little persuasion to pry Corrie off of the beach but she was happy to get involved in an awesome adventure.
Corrie came along as a Sherpa to help film the Wild Hawaii piece for the National Geographic channel. She knew wake up was at 1 and it would be 2 hours of hiking in the dark over lava rocks but she had no idea what lava looked like or how hot it is when you're 3 feet away. Cor toughed it out for the long morning. The end result, all smiles.

Natures Umbrella
Travelers note: While visiting tropical rainforests, it's imperative to always have an umbrella on hand. Larry found out the hard way.

Mauka To Makai
Mauka to Makai is a Hawaiian saying that represents the breadth of ecosystems between the Mauka (mountain) to the Makai (sea). Here you can dive into the Pacific ocean and climb above the clouds to the 13,796 foot summit of Mauna Kea in less than 2 hours. The pressure in my ears hasn't returned to normal but we did go Makai to Mauka.

South Side
Contrary to popular belief, the Big Island of Hawaii, Naalehu to be specific, is actually home to the most southern point in the United States, not Key West.
With the exception of a few atolls and perhaps a small Pacific Island, the only landmass south of this point in the world is Antarctica. Now isn't that a trip?!
